POSITION: Project Lead – New Business LOCATION: Kempton Park
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE: The purpose of this role is to successfully lead, manage and execute identified projects.
These projects include a new market channel and / or growth projects that assist the
company in South Africa to grow its existing market share through the various entities
within the group or capture alternative market channels.
The role is pivotal to successfully implementing the new identified projects or growth initiatives with a focus on the following five areas:
Project planning and initiation
Effective team leadership and management of the project
Regular stakeholder (internal and external) communication, management and engagement
Risk management and problem solving
Continuous project monitoring and reporting
Key responsibilities include:
Evaluate business opportunities with selected partners to identify customer needs, challenges and scope to implement differentiated value propositions and channels to market.
Perform needs analysis on product requirements and opportunity to aggregate products for bulk supply.
Evaluate technical inputs and support required.
Transform needs into a budget and project plan.
Discuss budgets with International Department Heads to devise value proposition, optimum supply plan and support as required.
Perform key account visits to leading farmers to ensure continuous communication and pro-actively identifying challenges and resolving issues.
Perform regular meetings and discussions with channel partners and stakeholders to discuss opportunities and challenges and monitor progress.
Report and discuss opportunities and challenges and monitor progress with International Departmental Heads and Group Executives.
Collaborating closely with the Group Executive to refine, transition, and prepare opportunities for execution.
Monitoring the external environment for trends, disruptions, and adjacent market opportunities, and presenting insights to the Group Executive.
Preparing and delivering clear, structured updates and recommendations to channel partners, stakeholders and key clients.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of agricultural input products and general farming practices
General understanding of the agricultural input value chain including key industry stakeholders (associations / industry bodies, competitors, farmers)
High level understanding of broader agriculture landscape and dynamics in South Africa
Strong ability to effectively work in and/or manage cross-functional teams (who are not direct reports), including internal stakeholders, customers and channel partners
Strong negotiation, written and verbal communication skills in Afrikaans and English
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders even in difficult circumstances
Strong business acumen and results-oriented mindset
Displays excellent skills in project management and effective planning
Must be assertive, structured, disciplined and self-starter
Qualifications & Experience:
B. Com, B.Sc. or similar degree
Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience
Experience in client relations, negotiations, commercial agreement, demand planning and supply chain would support application
Entrepreneurial experience and business acumen are advantageous
