Group Financial Manager

POSITION: Financial Manager Group
LOCATION: Durban
REPORTING TO: Managing Director / CEO

Job Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Group Financial Manager with a strong background in the finance industry
to oversee financial operations, foreign exchange transactions, and inventory-related financial management
for the company. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
& MS Business Central or Other and a solid understanding of international trade, cost control, multi-currency
transactions, multi-Company and Muti-branch accounting principles and structures.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the full finance function including AP, AR, GL, payroll, and treasury operations.
  • Manage foreign exchange purchases and sales, ensuring accurate tracking of currency gains/losses and optimizing FX exposure and leverage.
  • Handle financial transactions related to the procurement and sale of technical equipment and FMCG products, ensuring proper costing and inventory control.
  • Monitor operational expenditures and assist with budgetary forecasting and cost controls.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and analysis for management decision-making.
  • Administer and improve workflows, processes and procedures through implementation of Administrative and Engineering controls by optimization through Microsoft Dynamics NAV, including optimization of all modules.
  • Assist in financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting across multiple entities and currencies.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime accounting standards, tax laws, and internal control procedures.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies for statutory audits.
  • Support supply chain and procurement teams by providing financial insights on vendor terms, landed costs, and supplier performance.
  • Manage finance staff and supervisors and build capacity within the team.
  • Interest and proficiency in understanding, leveraging, developing and implementing in new Technologies like RPA (Robotic Process Automation), ML (Machine Learning), AI (Artificial Intelligence) as well as other Streaming tools and software like Document Management systems Etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field (CA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience in a financial management role within the logistics/FMCG industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision), particularly in Finance and other modules.
  • Strong understanding of foreign exchange mechanisms, hedging, and multi-currency financial management.
  • Familiarity with accounting in procurement on bonded goods, and logistics operations.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting and analytics tools.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in dealing with Logistics Management, Agency and Catering companies, especially Customers Procurement and Accounting departments within the companies.  
  • Familiarity with customs & import/export regulations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Jet Reports, SQL (Basic), or other data visualization tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex supply chains involving multiple jurisdictions and cost Optimization structures.
