Business Systems Support Engineer

POSITION: Business Systems Support Engineer
LOCATION: Boksburg

Purpose
To provide support on IT Business Systems and to establish proper functioning of all business system software.

Major Challenges
  • Headcount in the business analyst environment
  • Scarce resources to fit into the company culture and to retain/remain with the company for a long-term
  • Working with a team that is still under development to learn the business processes and technical skills to meet business needs
Problem Solving
  • Problems are highly varied, complex, and often non-recurring; require novel and creative approaches to resolution. New concepts and approaches may have to be developed
 Decision Making
  • Decisions have major implications on the management and operations of an area within a department. Job may contribute to important strategy, operational and business decisions that affect the department.
Planning Cycle
  • Short term Planning (up to 6 months) – Work related linked to day-to-day operations
  • Medium Term Planning (up to 2 years) – Implement projects
  • Long Term Planning - Input to systems support management

Key Performance Area
  1. Application Management Area (AX 2009 & D365 FO)
Performance Outputs
  • Prepare, test, and maintain system operating procedures for business system.
  • Schedule and execute daily, weekly monthly and year-end system procedures (e.g. parts updating).
  • Implement automated business procedures/runs as far as possible.
  • Perform housekeeping maintenance to ensure optimal utilization of systems.
  • Take corrective action/s in case of system failure.
  • Engage with relevant third parties to assist in system support.
  • Troubleshooting and problem diagnoses as and when arises. Escalate complex issues and requests to 3rd party vendor for resolution.

2.Security / Access Control

  • Review of user access and user restrictions as and when required.
  • Proper maintenance of profiles.

3.Business System Enhancement

  • Suggest, design, configure system changes.
  • Design functional changes to improve the business system/s.
  • Ensure proper functioning of business systems programs.

  • Enhancement of existing systems.
  • Functioning of business systems Adhere to schedules.
  • Effective software upgrades.
4.Application Implementations
Performance Outputs
  • Support the implementation life cycle of all applications.
  • Analyse requirements for solutions as and when required.
  • Design, implement solution, and provide post implementation support on all applications.

5. Coaching

  • Provide coaching and training to team members to improve the departmental performance level.
