POSITION: QC Supervisor
LOCATION: Malmesbury
REPORTING TO: Quality Technologist

Job Purpose
Supervise the QC teams, follow up on corrective actions on non-conformances, conduct customer
complaint investigations and other reports and perform the required duties as requested by the relevant
Quality Technologists/Manager. The job will require working on weekends and public holidays.


Output:
QC Team Management
  • Supervise the QC teams; manage their schedules and their daily activities/duties.
  • Conduct daily surveillance of staff compliment and monitor absenteeism.
  • Stand-in in the case of absence for online quality monitoring when needed.
  • Compile weekly wage and overtime reports.
  • Monitor daily clocking’s of staff compliment to ensure compliance.
  • Supervise and be present during weekends and public holidays and when technologists are not available onsite (as needed).
  • Report on and support the activities of the relevant Quality Technologist/Manager.

Quality Control Monitoring & Supervising
  • Know & understand the requirements, activities, and controls in place within the Malmesbury Plant.
  • Daily monitoring of quality against the requirements set out in the Food Safety Management System by means of daily plant walkthroughs.
  • Manage the completion and ensure verification and filling of the various checklists on manual and/or online platforms.
  • Assist with implementation of the electronic quality system.
  • Conduct internal audits as needed.
  • Perform pre-op inspections.
  • Conduct Foreign Body hunts to schedule.
  • Conduct metal detector, and other, verification checks in addition to routine daily checks.
  • Organize and conduct Environmental and Product monitoring.
  • Immediate action of any non-conformances related to quality, root cause investigation, follow-up, feedback and verification on corrective actions taken.
  • Conduct training (corrective action & general) when needed.
  • Request weekly QC sample picking slips, prepare the weekly QC Evaluation spreadsheet and verify samples.
  • Investigate and compile weekly WW QC sample KPI report feedback.
  • Supervise or conduct the weekly final product KPI evaluation sessions internally.

Customer complaint investigations & trials
  • Conduct Customer Complaint Investigations, compile reports, and conduct corrective action/training and feedback within 24/48 hours after receipt as required.
  • Assist during technical trials.
  • Execute the technical aspects of new product development or improvement trials or projects, including trial designs and reporting.
  • Assist during implementation in production.
  • Oversee trial final product and sample management, dispatch and communication.
  • Conduct/oversee internal training sessions with  staff ensuring compliance with the above.
  • Write reports (i.e. trials or trend reports) as required (fixed weight monitoring, foreign body hunt, customer complaint trends etc. as required).

SHEQ
  • Always ensure acceptable personal hygiene of all staff.
  • Always manage correct use of PPE.
  • Ensure that process and product hygiene standards are always maintained.
  • All duties are performed according to the  group Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Onsite SHE implementation/ monitoring of OHS requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Qualification details
  • Grade 12 is required.
  • Diploma in Food Technology or related field is preferred.

Experience
  • 1 - 3 years’ meat industry experience will be advantageous.

11.   Salary:
•     R 10,500.00 CTC per month.

•     This is a TCTC package – no additional benefits.
