Operations Supervisor (Fruit Industry)

POSITION: Operations Supervisor
LOCATION: Paarl
REPORTING TO: Operations Coordinator

Job description:
We are seeking a hands-on and results-driven Operations Supervisor who can lead a team,
drive operational efficiency, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our cold storage
operations. The successful candidate will be based in Paarl and will report to the operations Coordinator.

What you’ll be responsible for:
1. Daily Operations
  • Oversee the unloading, storage and loading of fruit pallets.
  • Make sure work is completed on time and according to plan.
  • Ensure the integrity of the cold chain is always maintained.
  • Monitor productivity and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Maintain accurate stock control.
2. Team Leadership
  • Lead and manage a team on shift.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and safety briefings.
  • Allocate work and ensure tasks are completed correctly.
  • Monitor attendance and discipline.
  • Motivate the team to meet targets.
3. Quality Control & Compliance
  • Ensure all safety, hygiene, and food handling regulations are followed.
  • Conduct regular floor checks and inspections.
  • Address issues quickly to avoid delays.
4. Improve Processes & Productivity
  • Identify ways to improve workflow, reduce delays, and increase productivity on the floor.
5. Reporting & Admin
  • Keep records of daily activities, stock, and incidents.
  • Report on shift performance and staffing.

What you need:
  • Matric.
  • Experience in a warehouse, cold storage, or logistics environment.
  • Experience in the cold storage of fruit is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a supervisor.
  • Valid forklift license.
  • Ability to manage a team and work under pressure
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Good communication and organisational skill

Working Conditions:
  • The successful candidate will be expected to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in line with operational requirements.
  • Ability to perform manual labour and work with heavy equipment.
