Senior Supervisor - Meat Production

POSITION: Senior Supervisor
LOCATION: Cullinan
REPORTING TO: Production Manager Retail

Job Purpose
Supervise the end-to-end production process, incl. filling, drying, deboning, trimming,
packing, wrapping, labelling of all products.  Ensuring yield and quality standards are met.


Output:
Production
Inhouse Training:
  • Retail Plant, Manufacturing Plant and Biltong staff - Train and manage the production staff on cutting, spicing, mixing, filling, drying, deboning, training staff to meet specifications and yield management.
  • Responsible for production processes.
  • Develop, review and implement efficient and effective procedures and processes to optimize production.
  • Responsible for the delivery of products according to a set standard and order fill.
  • Stock control management (stock rotation).
  • Ensure products meet all customer requirements especially but not limited to product appearance, packing and labelling.
  • Oversee that hygiene standards are applied throughout all process and procedures.
  • Responsible for the application of the correct selection criteria and quality standards (e.g. neatness; sequence etc.) of labelling.
  • Ensure that all procedures are implemented in accordance with legal requirements e.g. hygiene.
  • Report all non-conformances (quality and maintenance) to immediate manager and apply effective remedial action according to company procedures.
  • Support and supervise efficient and effective procedures and processes to optimize production.
  • Optimization cost effective utilization of current equipment, assets and human capital.
  • Supervise production line planning to align with meeting service levels.
  • Awareness of best available future technology and skills. 

People Management
  • Conduct workforce planning to ensure the team is suitably staffed to meet functional objectives considering various internal and external factors.
  • Implement, drive and manage all people development initiatives linked to the Human Resources Strategy including performance management, succession planning, talent management etc. to ensure the team’s performance meets the required standards.
  • Set medium-to-long-term goals and objectives for the relevant area of control and monitor progress against these.
  • Plan, organize, lead and control subordinate's activities to ensure functional objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Assure stable employee relations by managing conflict and creating a positive and performing working environment.
  • Supervise time and attendance of all subordinates.
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures are applied adequately.

SHEQ
  • Always ensure acceptable personal hygiene of all staff.
  • Always manage correct use of PPE.
  • Process and product hygiene standards are always maintained.
  • All duties are performed according to the group Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Qualification details
  • Grade 12 is required.
  • Master Meat Cutting Certificate is preferred.
Experience
  • 5–10 years of operational meat cutting experience in lamb and beef, is required.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a meat production environment is required.

Salary:
  • R 21,000.00 - R 25,000.00 CTC per month, depending on experience.

  • This is a TCTC package – no additional benefits.
  • Relocation at own cost
