POSITION: Senior Financial Accountant CA (SA) LOCATION: Pinelands, Cape Town
ROLE DETAILS We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of key financial accounting processes within the company and ensure timely and accurate reporting. This role plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving operational efficiency within the Finance function.
Key result areas
Manage the financial accounting process and internal controls for the company,ensuring accurate and timely submissions to the company Group.
Prepare budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ad-hoc financial submissions inaccordance with group timelines and standards.
Liaise with external auditors, prepare annual financial statements, andcompile supporting working papers.
Oversee accurate accounting for creditors and debtors in the generalledger.
Ensure smooth month-end close processes and adherence to reportingdeadlines.
Generate invoices for cost recoveries and manage collections from debtorsin a timely manner.
Prepare accounting journals related to incentive schemes, ensuringaccurate tax and deferred tax treatment.
Compile and provide relevant data for BEE reporting and Statistics SAsubmissions.
Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions, coordinate with relatedcompany entities to resolve imbalances.
Ensure compliance with all statutory reporting requirements, including regulatory deadlines and formats.
Prepare and submit provisional tax, VAT, and income tax returns accurately and on time.
Collaborate closely with Finance Managers on financial accounting matters and operational finance initiatives.
Identify financial risks and ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Monitor and analyse cost structures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support budgeting discipline across departments.
Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, including automation opportunities.
Contribute to ad-hoc finance projects, offering accounting and tax expertise.
Coordinate with and manage external service providers as required.
Manage and support a team of Financial Accountants, fostering performance and professional development.
Requirements: skills, qualifications and experience required
Qualified Chartered Accountant – CA(SA).
4–6 years of post-articles experience.
Experience in the financial services industry is essential.
Experience in the investment management industry is advantageous.
Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and tax legislation.
Proven experience managing and developing a finance team.
Proficiency in financial systems such as Great Plains, Excel Insights, IDU, and HFM would be advantageous
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
